A piano is a musical instrument with a manual keyboard actuating hammers that strike wire strings producing sounds that may be softened by means of pedals. It is also a complicated instrument with 2500 parts which includes keys, hammers and mechanism. Piano is the most important instrument among all the other musical instruments for its wide spread social influence. Piano is mostly used in the western music for solo performances and is a private household ownership among the upper class. Piano was established in the year 1700 in Florence by an Italian named Bartholomew Christopher. The word piano comes from the Italian name called pianoforte which means soft and hard. Pianos are of varies shapes and size, the original harpsichord shape has a horizontal string where as the 19th century upright pianos where of vertical strings.
PIANIST

A pianist is a person who plays the piano. A professional pianist can perform a solo piece with smaller skilled performers or some of the solo instrumentalists. A professional pianist normally starts playing piano at a very early age, around 3 to 4 years. Many well known classical composers were highly skilled pianists. Some pianists have a wide variety of collections and styles to choose from including Jazz, Classical and all sorts of popular music. Piano can be used in most of the western forms of the music.

Joe Kimura Parker mostly known as Jackie is one of the worlds most leading pianist. He has played almost 100 concerts annually and also has given two command performances as guest soloist for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. In the year 1996 Jackie received the Governor General's Performing Arts Award. Jackie as a passionate educator hosted the classical music television series "Whole Notes" in Canada. He started getting offers as an exceptional pianist from number of students at the university in Houston. On the 15th august 2002 Jackie appeared in the solo performance with the violinist on NPR's "Performance Today" and was taped in front of a live audience. Also Jackie's 2002 radio program "Up and Coming" featured 25 of Canada's hottest young musical stars in performances.
