HISTORY OF PIANO

The history of piano covers the period form the invention to modern times to the background information on its predecessors in earlier centuries. In the past, ancient man discovered that by stretching a thong between the horns of dead animal a musical sound could be produced. Later it became clear that by stopping the string at different points and varying its length it could be made to sound other notes. The first stringed instrument was a harp on which the strings are plucked. The harmonic curve caused by the varied speaking lengths of strings dictated the shape of the frame of the piano.
