Renowned piano soloists

Alexander Tutunov has been one of the greatest recitalist and orchestral soloist of the former Soviet Union. Born in Belarus, he had his early schooling in Moscow where he did diplomas in concert performance. Alexander Tutunov has to his credit long list of honors and prizes. He was awarded honors from the Minsk Musical College in Belarus, University of North Texas and the Belarusian National Academy of Music. He was also awarded the highest post graduate degree in concert performance from the Belarusian State Conservatory in Minsk. He was also the winner of First Prize of the Belarusian National Piano Competition and the Russian National Piano Competition. Alexander Tutunov is currently director of keyboard studies at South Oregon University and has taught at the Minsk College of Music, the University of North Texas and Illinois Wesleyan University. Other acclaimed piano soloists include Lee Luvisi who is renowned for the Piano Concerto No. 22 played in E flat. He swarmed the audiences' hearts by his dynamic and intelligent musical aptitude. He laid great stress on the phrases' structures and imparted a colorful tone to the triplets in the compositions. Dana Nigrim, Angelin Chang, Olivier Messiaen were some of the other internationally acclaimed pianists who added honor to the class of solo pianists in different capacities.
